Our home fleet is out in force for our first ‘Branchline Weekend’!
The Dean Forest Locomotive Group will be providing the two steam locomotives, the GWR Small Prairie 5541, a 4575 class small Praire tank engine built by the Great Western Railway in 1928 at Swindon works, and the BR Pannier Tank 9681, built in 1949 at Swindon, an 8750 tank that was a derived version of the 5700 class locomotive.
Carriages will be provided by the Dean Forest Railway Society, with Mark I coaches M4923, E4980, E9003 & E34742 and Mark II coaches W5341 & M5175 all in operation. They will be joined by the Hawksworth Saloon (80943) Group’s First Class Inspection Coach.
Subject to availability, the Dean Forest DMU Group will provide a 3-car Derby built class 108 diesel multiple unit, including a unique Trailer Second – TSL. This is the only vehicle of this type in existence. The DMU provides excellent views of the line.
