Brake Van specials – the ultimate socially-distanced way to authentically experience the Dean Forest Railway
- Adult Ages 18+
- Child Ages 3-17
Enjoy a relaxing journey along the Dean Forest Railway on board the steam train, with a fish and chip supper (or other choice of food) delivered to your table.
Whilst we won’t be able to provide our usual on-board bar service, we will now be offering drinks pre-orders (sent separately after booking), which will be set up ready at your table before boarding.
In order to ensure distancing on board we will have a limited number of bookings available – find out more about our changes in our COVID-19 Statement – we will also be limiting booking sizes to a maximum of 8 per booking, and a minimum of 2.
From Monday 14th September 2020, the new ‘rule of 6’ will be in place.
Mixed households may sit together in one booking but must not exceed 6 people (including all children).
A single household (or support bubble*) may exceed 6 people, but the maximum you can place in one booking is 8 due to the seating layout (note: if you have a household/support bubble* of more than 8, you will need to make two separate bookings, which can then be seated in the same half of a carriage. E.g. if your household is 9 people, you could split this into a booking of 4 and a booking of 5. There is a booking minimum of two, so you would not be able to book it as an 8 and a 1).
As per the government guidelines, you must avoid social interaction with anyone outside the group you are with, even if you see other people you know (note, by group we mean either one household/social bubble* or maximum of 6 from mixed households).
*Definition of a support bubble from the gov.uk website:
‘A support bubble is a close support network between a household with only one adult in the home (known as a single-adult household) and one other household of any size.
This is called making a ‘support bubble’.
Once you’re in a support bubble, you can think of yourself as being in a single household with people from the other household. It means you can have close contact with that household as if they were members of your own household.
Once you make a support bubble, you should not change who is in your bubble.’
Your train will depart from Norchard Station on Forest Road (GL15 4ET) at 18:15, travelling north to Parkend, where we will then serve your supper. You will need to wear a facemask/covering whilst we bring the food through the train. We will also require facemasks/coverings to be worn when boarding/alighting the train.
The train will then depart Parkend, heading south to Lydney Junction, where there will be a short wait for the engine to ‘run round’, during which time you may use the facilities here.
Finally the train will return to Norchard Station to complete it’s 90 minute round trip.
