  • Refreshments: Add an Afternoon Tea, Cream Tea or a Bacon Roll & a Hot Drink and collect at our café to take on board the train with you.
  • Drinks: Add a 20cl prosecco to your booking for only £6.50 (18+)
  • Booking: Advanced booking is recommended.
  • Accessibility: Our stations and steam trains are fully wheelchair accessible. Contact us before booking to ensure we know you require the space, and also to get information on our carer's discount.
  • Dogs: Dogs are welcome to travel on this train at a cost of £2. Please ensure that you do not allow your dogs on the seats.
  • Food: A selection of takeaway options, including baguettes, sandwiches, pasties, snacks, cakes and drinks are available from our cafe at Norchard Station.

Steam Train Ride Through Dean Forest!

Enjoy a relaxing journey along the Dean Forest Railway behind one of our steam locomotives, with unlimited travel throughout the day, and the ability to hop-off and back on at any of our stations.

We recommend starting your journey at Norchard Station (GL15 4ET) unless you are staying within walking distance of one of our other stations, as there is no parking at our other stations (especially in Parkend and Whitecroft, where roadside parking for the local residents is limited already).

The ‘Steam & DMU’ timetable will operate on all Wednesdays from 22nd July until 26th August, plus Wednesday 27th May and the weekend of 27th & 28th June, with the standard timetable operating on all other available steam days.

Please note that on the ‘Steam & DMU’ days, except for the weekend of 27th & 28th June, ‘Steam Day Rover’ tickets are unavailable, but purchasing a ‘Steam Train Ride’ ticket also allows travel on any of the heritage diesel railcar services.

Don’t forget to visit our shop, cafe and museum as well, which are open all day at Norchard Station (please note that Whistles Café closes shortly after the last round trip departs).
