Spring Steam Gala

News update, 25th March @ 0900

It’s now full steam ahead for our Spring Steam Gala this weekend, as the timetable is now available. It can be seen in photographic form below or downloaded as a PDF here.

Confirmed lineup is Bagnall No. 2572 ‘Judy’, Peckett No. 2147 ‘Uskmouth 1’, now joined by the DFLG stalwart BR(W) Pannier Tank No. 9681.

News update, 21st March @ 1600

Due to unforeseen circumstances beyond the DFR’s control, both GER No. 229 and Willy the Well Tank have withdrawn from our Spring Steam Gala.

As we’re sure you understand, this is a huge disappointment for us, and has necessitated a significant rewrite of the planned timetable – the original release of which was imminent.

We’re still planning to hold the event, with an updated loco roster of Bagnall No. 2572 ‘Judy’, Peckett No. 2147 ‘Uskmouth 1’, now joined by the DFLG stalwart BR(W) Pannier Tank No. 9681.

The timetable will be issued as soon as possible.

We hope you’ll continue to support our events – we’ve got exciting plans for the rest of the year, including our annual Diesel Gala and season-ending Royal Forest of Steam Gala.

Our volunteers are also working hard to restore Andrew Barclay No. 2221, which, while now unable to join us in time for the event, is still proceeding apace – but we need your help.

We need to raise £20,000 to ensure the materials are available for the remaining mechanical and boiler work – which includes replacing the lower 12 inches of the outer firebox wrapper, backplate and throatplate, fitting a new main steam pipe and fitting 100 new tubes.
