Heritage Diesel Train Ride Through Dean Forest!

Enjoy a day of heritage steam and diesel traction – pick up a Steam Day Rover Ticket (which also covers travel on board the diesel train on available days) to make the most of the variety on offer!

Looking for something a little extra? Add a takeaway cream tea or afternoon tea to your trip when placing your booking (and make them extra fancy with a 20cl bottle of prosecco!), available for pickup from Whistles Cafe before your train ride.

Your journey will last approximately 90 minutes, covering our nine mile round trip along our forest line. You will begin your journey at Norchard Station and travel south to Lydney Junction and north to Parkend before returning to Norchard. The train will stop for around 20 minutes at both ends of the line (Lydney Junction and Parkend), while the engine runs around, where you’ll have the perfect opportunity to get some photos of the train, as well as use the facilities if needed.

Don’t forget to visit our shop, museum and cafe at Norchard Station, which are open all day (although the cafe closes after the last steam round trip departs).

At present, the upcoming diesel days are booked to consist of the following traction and rolling stock:

26th April: Class 08, 08769, with Mk1/2 coaches.
